RTE Admission: The admission process under the Right to Education (RTE) Act in the state’s private schools has been completed in two phases. Approximately 9,242 RTE seats remain vacant across private schools in the state. In light of this, a third round involving seat allotment and a lottery will now be conducted. Although the Directorate of Public Instruction had initially aimed to complete admissions within just two rounds, preparations for a third round have been made due to the remaining vacancies. According to data received from officials, there are 23,124 RTE seats across 6,858 private schools in the state. Following the first two phases, admissions have been finalized for approximately 13,882 of these seats. Students selected under the RTE scheme were required to complete their admission by July 17.
Applications for the Third Phase Starting July 22
The Directorate is conducting a third and final admission phase to ensure that the maximum number of eligible children secure RTE seats. Applicants wishing to participate in this phase can apply online via the RTE portal from July 22 to August 5. Subsequently, after the nodal principal verifies the applications, a list of selected candidates will be released through an online lottery and counseling process between August 10 and August 14. Selected children will then be required to complete their school admissions between August 17 and August 25.

There are 3,204 RTE seats across 824 private schools in Raipur. Of these, admissions have been completed for 2,458 seats so far. Admissions have been completed for 1,398 out of 2,228 seats across 562 schools in Bilaspur; 1,042 out of 1,581 seats across 531 schools in Durg; 795 out of 1,524 seats across 190 schools in Balrampur; and 699 out of 1,011 seats across 226 schools in Mungeli. Admissions for the remaining seats are still pending.
Children will fall behind on the syllabus
A parent who had previously applied for RTE admission shared that despite applying, their child’s name did not appear on the list. They mentioned that while a friend’s son was selected in the first round, the family had to make repeated rounds between the school and the nodal office; even then, the private school asked them to keep the application with themselves. Consequently, the parent decided not to apply under the RTE scheme again. Even after submitting all the required documents, one is forced to make repeated visits to both the school and the nodal office. Meanwhile, applications are being invited again; even if someone applies now, the admission process will continue until August 25th. By that time, a significant portion of the syllabus would have already been covered, which will create major difficulties for the child.
