Trouble mounts for DEOs in Chhattisgarh! Salaries at risk if accounts for school buildings aren’t submitted; notices issued to 31 districts.

Raipur: The Directorate of Public Instruction has issued notices to District Education Officers (DEOs) across Chhattisgarh for failing to provide timely information regarding school buildings. Responses have been sought from DEOs of all districts in the state, with the exception of Balodabazar and Balrampur. The department has directed them to submit the requested information along with their responses within three days.

The Directorate has warned that failure to respond within the stipulated timeframe, or providing an unsatisfactory response, could lead to disciplinary action against the concerned DEOs. Such action may include the withholding of their October salary.

Information Requested on September 7

On September 7, the Directorate of Public Instruction had sought information from all districts regarding the status of school buildings. Details were requested concerning schools that lack their own buildings or those whose existing buildings require repairs.

The department had allowed one week for the submission of this information. Within the deadline, information was received only from the Balodabazar and Balrampur districts. Following the failure to receive data from the other districts, the Directorate issued notices to the respective DEOs on September 29.

Response Required Within Three Days

In the notice, the department emphasized the importance of information regarding school buildings and expressed displeasure over the failure to submit the report on time. The concerned DEOs are now required to submit their explanations and the requested information within three days.

Action to Follow if Response is Unsatisfactory

The Directorate of Public Instruction has clarified that action will be taken against the concerned officers if they fail to respond within the deadline or if their responses are found to be unsatisfactory. Proposed measures include withholding the salary for the month of October.

The requested information covers details of schools that do not have their own buildings as well as those where existing structures require repairs. The DEOs of the respective districts must now provide the required information and also explain the reasons for the delay.
