Free Assistance Camp for Persons with Disabilities to be Held from October 15 to 17
30 Beneficiaries Disabled by IED Blasts Identified; Preparations Underway to Distribute Assistive Devices to 768 Beneficiaries
Raipur: A large-scale, free assistance and assistive device distribution camp for persons with disabilities—including those affected by Naxal-related IED blasts—is being organized in Dantewada district from October 15 to 17, 2026. Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah will join the event, held at the Police Lines in Karli (Dantewada district headquarters), via a virtual link. During the event, he will address the attendees and interact with victims affected by Naxal violence and IED blasts. The state’s Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister, Shri Vijay Sharma, will also be present at the camp.
At the camp, persons with disabilities will be provided with various assistive devices—such as artificial limbs, calipers, tricycles, wheelchairs, and hearing aids—tailored to their specific needs. A primary objective of the camp is to extend essential support to persons with disabilities living in the remote, Naxal-affected regions of Bastar. Special emphasis is being placed on providing artificial limbs and assistive devices to individuals who acquired disabilities due to Naxal violence, with the aim of easing their daily lives and helping them become self-reliant. Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah to Interact with Victims of Naxal Violence
Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah will join the camp virtually to address the persons with disabilities and other attendees. On this occasion, he will also interact with individuals affected by Naxal violence to learn about their circumstances, challenges, and needs. Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma will also be present at the camp to encourage the persons with disabilities and the beneficiaries affected by Naxal violence.
Beneficiaries from Three Districts to Participate
A total of 768 beneficiaries with disabilities from the districts of Dantewada, Bijapur, and Sukma have been identified to receive assistive devices. The beneficiaries identified for the distribution of assistive devices include 509 persons with disabilities from Dantewada district, 197 from Bijapur, and 62 from Sukma district. Arrangements have been made at the camp to provide assistance tailored to the individual needs of each person with a disability. Among those identified for the camp are 30 individuals who acquired disabilities due to IED blasts during Naxal-related incidents. Special attention is being given to providing these beneficiaries with artificial limbs and assistive devices suited to their specific requirements.
For these individuals affected by Naxal violence, the provision of artificial limbs and assistive devices will make their daily lives easier. This will assist them in mobility, performing everyday tasks, and increasing their participation in livelihood-related activities. The camp has been organized to ensure that each person with a disability receives equipment customized to their personal needs, thereby enhancing their convenience in daily life.
Beneficiaries from Sukma and Bijapur will participate on October 15, and those from Dantewada on October 16. According to the scheduled program, persons with disabilities and those affected by Naxal violence from Sukma and Bijapur districts will attend the camp on October 15. Meanwhile, arrangements have been made to provide support to beneficiaries from Dantewada district on October 16. The camp will continue until October 17.
