Raipur: The school holiday declared on September 26, 2026, due to heavy rains and waterlogging in several areas of Chhattisgarh, impacted the quarterly examinations. Exams scheduled for that day had to be postponed. The Directorate of Public Instruction (DPI) has now issued necessary instructions to all District Education Officers (DEOs) regarding these postponed exams.
The DPI has clarified that the quarterly exams postponed due to the September 26 holiday will not be cancelled; instead, they will be conducted on newly scheduled dates. This clarification has resolved the uncertainty among students and parents regarding the exams.
New Exam Dates to be Set with Collector’s Approval
According to the DPI’s directives, local conditions in the respective districts will be considered when scheduling the postponed exams. Obtaining permission from the District Collector is mandatory for this process. Once permission is granted, new dates will be finalized for the postponed subject exams in the respective districts.
Instructions have been issued to consider weather conditions, local administrative circumstances, and student convenience when setting the new dates. Priority is also to be given to the safety and health of students during the examinations.
School Holiday on September 26 Due to Heavy Rain
In view of the heavy rainfall across the state, the government had declared a holiday for all government, private, and aided schools in Chhattisgarh on Saturday, September 26, 2026. Quarterly examinations were scheduled to take place in many schools on that day.
The declaration of the holiday disrupted the exam schedule, necessitating the postponement of exams for several subjects. Consequently, students and parents had been awaiting the announcement of new dates for these exams.
New Exam Schedule to be Issued at the District Level
Following the DPI’s instructions, local conditions in the respective districts will now be assessed. Subsequently, new dates for the postponed exams will be finalized with the District Collector’s approval. Once the new dates are set, students will be informed of the exam schedule through their respective schools. The Directorate of Public Instruction has also sent copies of its directive to the Secretary of the School Education Department, as well as to all District Collectors and Divisional Joint Directors across the state. The objective is to ensure the effective implementation of these instructions in all districts.
Following this decision, students who were unable to take the exam on September 26 will no longer need to worry about the exam being cancelled. They will have to wait for the announcement of new official dates for the postponed subjects.
