Class 9 NCERT New Books: The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has introduced new textbooks for Class 9 in Chhattisgarh. Teachers across the country are undergoing special training before instruction based on these books begins in the new academic session. This initiative involves teachers from CBSE schools as well as those from Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS).
Curriculum Aligned with the New Education Policy
The new Class 9 textbooks have been developed in accordance with the guidelines of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework (NCF-SE) 2023. Significant changes have been made to subjects such as Social Science, Mathematics, Science, Art Education, and Languages to strengthen students’ conceptual understanding.
Teachers Being Familiarized with New Teaching Methodologies
CBSE is organizing training programs—conducted via both online and offline modes—to ensure the new textbooks are taught effectively. During the training, teachers are being introduced to the curriculum structure, the presentation of new chapters, and modern teaching techniques. Education experts believe that only trained teachers will be able to effectively convey the objectives of the new education system to students.
Focus on Understanding Rather Than Rote Learning
The new NCERT textbooks prioritize concept-based learning while minimizing the culture of rote memorization. Mathematics and Science curricula now include questions designed to develop students’ logical reasoning and problem-solving skills. Additionally, students will have opportunities to learn through examples, activities, and experiments related to their daily lives.
Emphasis on Local Culture and Experiences
A notable feature of the new textbooks is the inclusion of local culture, surroundings, and social contexts. This will make it easier for students to understand subjects by relating them to their own experiences, thereby making the learning process more engaging.
Changes in the Assessment System
Changes have also been made to the assessment process under the new education system. Students will no longer be evaluated solely on the basis of written examinations. Instead, priority will be given to skill-based and competency-based assessment. The Education Department believes that this shift will help better bring out the students’ creativity, understanding, and practical knowledge.
