Delhi CM meets Rajasthani community in Coimbatore

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday interacted with members of the Rajasthani community in Coimbatore, praising their contribution to economic growth and describing their journey as a strong example of resilience and enterprise.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that the Rajasthani community has played a significant role in Tamil Nadu’s development through sustained efforts in trade and industry. She said their hard work has not only strengthened businesses but also supported the state’s broader economic framework. The Chief Minister expressed appreciation for the warm welcome extended to her and said she was pleased to engage with families who have lived in Coimbatore for decades. She noted that many members of the community have been settled in the city for over 50 years, with newer generations born and raised there. She said their commitment and determination have helped shape Coimbatore’s growth over time.

Highlighting the community’s cultural background, the Chief Minister said that courage and determination are central to Rajasthan’s identity and are reflected in the lives of those settled in other parts of the country. She also acknowledged women’s role in the community, describing them as equally strong and determined. Speaking on governance and development, the Chief Minister said economic progress depends heavily on trade and industrial activity.

She explained that tax revenue generated through such activities enables Governments to invest in infrastructure, including roads, flyovers, schools, colleges, and hospitals. She said development is supported by both local tax systems and assistance from the Central Government.

Referring to national policies, the Chief Minister said that under the leadership of Narendra Modi, there has been a strong push for entrepreneurship and ease of doing business.

She said the Centre has worked towards balanced development across regions, from southern to northern states and from western to northeastern parts of the country.

Drawing on her political experience, the Chief Minister said the Prime Minister’s approach focuses on inclusive growth and equal attention to all regions. She pointed to improvements in connectivity in the Northeast, strengthening of border infrastructure, and better implementation of Government schemes.

The Chief Minister also referred to India’s response during the COVID-19 pandemic. She said the country developed its own vaccines and ensured free vaccination for citizens. She added that India also supported other countries during the crisis, reflecting its global outreach.

The Chief Minister noted that even in states where the Bharatiya Janata Party is not in power, development projects continue with support from the Centre. She cited expansion in highways, expressways, railway infrastructure, and healthcare facilities as examples of ongoing development.

She also spoke about improvements in access to healthcare and education. She said institutions similar to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences are being established in different parts of the country, reducing the need for people to travel long distances for treatment. Opportunities in medical and engineering education have also increased, she added.

The Chief Minister said India’s development journey has gained pace in recent years. She noted that while progress began after independence, the speed of development has increased significantly in the past decade.

The interaction concluded with the Chief Minister reiterating that communities engaged in trade and enterprise play a key role in nation-building. She said their continued efforts will remain important for sustaining economic growth and strengthening the country’s development path.
