What is the punishment for slapping?

If someone slaps someone, action can be taken against him under several sections of the Indian Penal Code. Slapping anyone is a legal offense. A case can be registered in case of slapping under section 323 of the IPC. Section 323 of the IPC says that if someone intentionally harms or injures someone, he can be fined Rs 1000 or he can be sentenced to 1 year in jail. Or he can be given both 1 year imprisonment and fine.

Apart from this, a case can also be registered under section 352 of IPC. Under this, if a person attacks someone without any provocation, then in such a case, one has to pay 3 months jail and a fine of up to Rs 500. Or there can be both jail and fine. However, in such cases, a case can be registered first. But which section is to be applied. This is decided only after investigation.

No case will be made in self-defense or reaction

Although slapping is a crime under the law, but making a case for it depends a lot on circumstantial evidence. If someone has slapped someone in self-defense, then no action will be taken against the person who slapped. Or if someone has slapped someone after the other person misbehaved with him, then even in such a case the case will be dismissed.
