IAS Divya Shakti Transfer: IAS Divya Shakti now takes charge of liquor prohibition in Bihar; she cleared the UPSC exam twice.

IAS Divya Shakti Transfer: On August 28, the Samrat Chaudhary-led government in Bihar transferred six IAS officers. As part of this reshuffle, IAS officer Divya Shakti has been entrusted with the responsibility of overseeing the liquor ban in the state; she has been appointed as the Excise Commissioner within the Bihar Prohibition, Excise, and Registration Department. A 2022-batch IAS officer of the Bihar cadre, she was previously serving as the Deputy Development Commissioner-cum-Chief Executive Officer of the Kaimur Zila Parishad. She now joins the ranks of top Bihar officials responsible for the strict enforcement of the liquor ban. Divya Shakti is also an accomplished daughter of Bihar who has successfully cleared the UPSC examination twice.

Who is Divya Shakti? From Engineer to IAS Officer

Born on September 20, 1992, IAS Divya Shakti hails from Kothyan village in the Jalalpur area of ​​Bihar’s Chhapra district. Her journey took her from being an engineer to an IAS officer. Her father, Dhirendra Kumar Singh, retired as the Superintendent of Bettiah Medical College, while her mother, Manjul Prabha, is a homemaker; the family currently resides in Muzaffarpur. After completing her engineering degree at BITS Pilani in Rajasthan’s Jhunjhunu district, she began preparing for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination. In her very first attempt at the UPSC exam in 2018, she secured the 79th rank nationwide and joined the Indian Police Service (IPS).

Even after becoming an IPS officer, Divya Shakti continued her UPSC preparations with the aim of becoming an IAS officer. Subsequently, in the UPSC 2021 examination, she secured the 58th rank nationwide and became an IAS officer in her home cadre of Bihar. Her brother, Abhishek Anand, works for a private company, while her sister, Priyanka Singh, is a lecturer in Bathinda.
