Leopards are often perceived as terrifying; the mere sight of one can make a human break out in a cold sweat, while other animals feel certain they are about to become prey. However, a video has emerged from the Rajsamand district of Rajasthan showing a German Shepherd dog chasing a leopard away from a populated area. Upon receiving the report, a Forest Department team arrived at the scene and launched a search operation. The team is currently maintaining constant surveillance and has urged local residents to remain alert.
Leopard Caught on CCTV
The leopard was resting on the veranda of an unoccupied house in Mahavir Nagar Colony. A woman spotted the animal and, in a state of panic, began screaming loudly. As a crowd gathered, the leopard—startled by the people—left the house and moved onto the street. At that moment, a German Shepherd from a nearby house ran onto the street and began chasing the leopard. The leopard fled with the dog in hot pursuit. This entire incident was captured on a CCTV camera installed in the area.
The incident occurred on Thursday morning while the leopard was resting on the veranda of the vacant house. Sudha Singh Bhati, a neighbor, opened her door and, upon seeing the leopard sitting right in front of her, started shouting. Startled by the noise, the leopard leapt away. Meanwhile, a pet German Shepherd belonging to another neighbor, Bhanwar Singh Chundawat, gave chase. Frightened by the dog, the leopard fled towards the bushes near the Taledi Nala (drain).
Forest Department Launches Search
Upon receiving the information, the Forest Department team arrived at the location and began searching for the leopard. The team is currently monitoring the area. The Forest Department has appealed to residents living in the vicinity of the Rameshwar Mahadev Road—covering areas such as Mahavir Nagar, Sushil Nagar, 100-Feet Road, Dhoinda, Jawad, and Kishore Nagar—to exercise special caution.
