Major step for women’s welfare: Expert panel to be formed to monitor IVF clinics.

New Delhi: The National Commission for Women (NCW) has stated that it has constituted a high-level expert committee to review the regulations governing IVF clinics and ART centers, in light of the rising irregularities observed in these facilities.

The primary objective is to safeguard the reproductive rights and dignity of women. The committee will be chaired by retired Delhi High Court Judge Asha Menon.

It comprises experts from the fields of judiciary, medicine, forensic science, law enforcement, and gynecology, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The Commission stated that the committee will review the implementation of the Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) Regulation Act, 2021, and the Surrogacy Regulation Act, 2021.

It is expected that the committee’s recommendations will prove effective in driving future legal, policy, and administrative reforms.
