Manipur Polling Booth Firing: Gunfire Erupts During Voting, Booth Rattled, EVM Vandalized

Manipur Polling Booth Firing: There were several reports of violence during the first phase of voting in the Lok Sabha elections in Manipur. However, the Election Commission claimed that voting took place peacefully there.

Manipur Polling Booth Firing: There was a ruckus in Moirang, Manipur, North East, during the first phase of voting for the Lok Sabha elections on Friday (April 19, 2024) . An incident of firing was reported near a polling booth in Thamanpokpi of Moirang assembly constituency.

It was reported that there was a commotion in the area after the firing. Voters ran away after hearing the sound of bullets. However, it is a matter of relief that no one was hurt in this firing. A video related to the incident also went viral on social media, in which voters were seen running away.

Infiltration attempt at polling station in Imphal East!

Earlier, an attempt was made to infiltrate a polling booth in Khongman, Imphal East. Sources said that armed miscreants had entered the polling booth and broke the EVM. Not only this, three people were also injured in their attack.

Police officers and agents of political parties were also present at the time of the incident. Armed miscreants had arrived at the polling booth to cast fake votes. During this time, they vandalized the EVM.

Tight security arrangements at polling booths

In view of the violence at the polling booth, heavy security forces have been deployed on the spot, while voting in two Lok Sabha seats of Manipur (Inner Manipur and Outer Manipur) will continue till 6 pm on Friday.
