Bhopal: There is welcome news for residents of Madhya Pradesh who hold a lease (patta) for their land or house but lack a formal, registered deed (registry). Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has directed that the process of providing formal registered deeds—free of cost—to all eligible beneficiaries under the ‘Chief Minister’s Registry Scheme’ (Mukhyamantri Registry Yojana) be accelerated. The state government will bear the entire cost of the stamp duty.
During a review meeting held on Sunday at ‘Samatva Bhavan’ (the Chief Minister’s residence), Dr. Mohan Yadav emphasized that it is essential for individuals who own a house or a plot to also possess formal revenue documents. A registered deed establishes legal ownership of a property and grants the legal right to buy or sell it.
Government to cover the entire cost of registration
The Chief Minister explained that under this scheme, all eligible landowners in rural areas who currently lack a formal registered deed for their plots or houses will be provided with one. The state government will cover the full cost of the required stamp duty from its own exchequer, meaning beneficiaries will not have to pay anything to get their property registered.
Registration to pave the way for financial stability
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav stated that obtaining a formal registered deed will open new avenues for the financial prosperity of landowners. Once the property is registered, owners will also become eligible to secure bank loans against it. He clarified that this campaign will continue, and next year, it will be integrated with the ‘Year of the Youth’ (Yuva Varsh) initiative.
Ministers and MLAs to oversee registrations in villages on November 6
The Chief Minister has directed that on November 6—the occasion of Dhanteras—all state ministers, Members of Parliament (MPs), and Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) should visit their ancestral villages or another village of their choice. There, they will oversee the completion of the registration process for all eligible properties under the ‘Chief Minister’s Registry Scheme.’
District Collectors have been instructed to coordinate with the ministers in charge, local ministers, and public representatives to ensure the successful execution of this initiative. In villages where the registration process reaches 100% completion, events will be organized in the presence of public representatives.
12.87 lakh registrations completed so far
During the meeting, Principal Secretary (Revenue) Dr. E. Ramesh Kumar provided an update on the progress of the scheme, stating that a total of 1,287,252 registrations have been completed in the state as of November 1, 2026. The government aims to increase this figure to 2 million (20 lakh) by November 15. To achieve this, an extensive public awareness campaign will be conducted across the state.
