RBSE: The Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan (Ajmer) has once again revised the rules regarding corrections to examination-related documents. Under the new order, corrections for errors related to spelling, spacing, names, fathers’ names, and dates of birth can now be made for documents dating back up to three years. Previously, in an order issued on June 15, 2026, the Board had reduced the correction window to just one year—a decision that faced opposition from students and the education community. Although the Board subsequently issued a revised order allowing corrections for cases up to one month old, that measure failed to resolve the issue. Following a continued influx of applications for cases older than three years, the Board amended the order again, extending the permissible timeframe to three years.
Mother’s name can also be added to pre-2001 records
Under the new provision, a mother’s name can be added to records dating back to before 2001, subject to the submission of necessary documentation. If discrepancies exist regarding a name, surname, or date of birth between the Board’s records and school records, the correction will be made based on the school’s records. Corrections for errors originating at the Board level will be free of charge; for other cases, a fee of ₹300 per error will apply.
Two errors found in the Board’s new order
Two clear errors came to light immediately upon the issuance of the new office order. The first line at the bottom of the order lists the date as June 15, 20026, with “20026” clearly being a typographical error. Furthermore, item number 4 of the order shows an unnecessary repetition of the phrase “school letter.” This suggests that the order was prepared in haste.
Conflicting Rules Between the Order and the Marksheet
The Board’s new office order sets a three-year timeframe for making corrections, whereas the instructions printed on the back of the 2026 supplementary examination marksheets still stipulate a five-year window for amendments. Point 7 of the marksheet states that corrections regarding the name, father’s or mother’s name, surname, or date of birth can be made within five years of the result declaration date. Consequently, a clear contradiction has emerged between the Board’s latest order and the instructions provided on the documents issued to students.
A Welcome Decision by the Board in the Interest of Students – Moharsingh Salavad
Meanwhile, Moharsingh Salavad, State President of the teachers’ association RESTA, states that with the revision of document amendment rules, students can now—in accordance with the new office order—correct errors related to spelling, spacing, names, parents’ names, surnames, and dates of birth in documents dating back up to three years. This is a welcome decision by the Board in the interest of the students.
