Why Vivekananda Rock?
This place has been chosen for PM Modi’s meditation because it is believed that Swami Vivekananda received divine visions here. According to BJP leaders, the rock chosen by PM Modi for meditation had a great impact on Vivekananda’s life and it holds the same importance in the monk’s life as Sarnath did for Gautam Buddha. It was here that Vivekananda reached after traveling across the country and after meditating for three days, he dreamt of a developed India.
“Meditating at the same place shows PM Modi’s commitment to realising Swamiji’s dream of a developed India,” a BJP leader was quoted as saying by PTI. The leader said the place is also mentioned in holy scriptures as a place where Goddess Parvati meditated for Lord Shiva.
