PM Modi Highlights Constitution’s Strength: From Emergency Resilience to Historic First Celebration in Jammu & Kashmir

PM Narendra Modi marked Constitution Day at the Supreme Court, emphasizing its resilience during the Emergency and implementation in Jammu & Kashmir. He honored Mumbai attack victims and vowed action against terrorism.

PM Narendra Modi Highlights Constitution’s Strength: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at the event organized on the occasion of Constitution Day at the Supreme Court on Tuesday evening. He released the Annual Report of the Indian Judiciary 2023-24 here.

In his address, the PM said- We have seen emergency in the country. Our constitution has faced this challenge faced by democracy. It is the power of the constitution that today Baba Saheb Ambedkar’s constitution is being fully implemented in Jammu and Kashmir. Today for the first time, Constitution Day is being celebrated in Jammu and Kashmir.

He said that this is the 75th year of the Indian Constitution. This is a matter of great pride for the country. I salute the Constitution and all the members of the Constituent Assembly. We cannot forget that today is also the anniversary of the terrorist attack in Mumbai.

The PM said- I pay my tribute to those who lost their lives in this attack. I also want to reiterate the country’s resolve that all terrorist organizations challenging India’s security will get a befitting reply.

Highlights of PM’s speech…

  • Dr Rajendra Prasad said in his speech in the Constituent Assembly that India needs a group of 50 honest people who put the country’s interest above their own. This spirit of nation first will keep the Indian Constitution alive for many years to come.
  • I have tried to follow the limits that the Constitution demands from me. I have not tried to violate them.
  • There was a time when senior citizens had to go to banks to prove that they were alive. Today senior citizens are taking advantage of the facility of digital life certificate.
  • The original copy of the Constitution has pictures of Lord Ram and Mother Sita. The pictures are symbolic of Indian culture so that they can remind us of human values. These human values ​​are the basis of today’s India’s policies and decisions.

Modi-Rahul seen on the same stage on Constitution Day, Constitution now in Sanskrit and Maithili too

On Tuesday, a special program was held in the Central Hall of the old Parliament on the completion of 75 years of the Constitution of the country. President Draupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla were also present in it. The theme of the event was Our Constitution, Our Self-Respect.

For the first time in the event, PM Narendra Modi and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi were seen sitting together on the same stage. Apart from them, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, BJP President JP Nadda, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, Rajya Sabha Deputy Speaker Harivansh were also present.

Coins and postage stamps were also released on the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution. Copies of the Constitution in Sanskrit and Maithili were also released. 2 books ‘Creation of the Indian Constitution: A Glimpse’ and ‘Creation of the Indian Constitution and its Glorious Journey’ were released.

Highlights of the President’s address…

  • 75 years ago on this very day in the same Central Hall of Samvidhaan Sadan, the Constituent Assembly did the huge task of making the Constitution. The Constitution is the most sacred book of our country. Today we are witnesses to a historic day. Our Constitution ensures collective and individual self-respect.
  • On this day, the Constituent Assembly completed the task of drafting the Constitution and dedicated and adopted it. Today, on behalf of the country, I thank and pay tribute to the members of the Constituent Assembly.
  • This is also an occasion to remember the contribution of the 15 women members of the Constituent Assembly. The officers who remained in the background also played a big role in the making of the Constitution. BN Rao was an advisor to the Constituent Assembly. On 26 January, we will celebrate the 75th anniversary of the implementation of the Constitution.
  • During the last few years, the government has taken many steps for the backward classes. They are getting permanent houses, food security. World class infrastructure is being built in India. I appreciate the government for this.
  • It is the good fortune of the country that the Chairman of the Constituent Assembly Dr. Rajendra Prasad and the Chairman of the Drafting Committee Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar guided the journey of constitution making. Baba Saheb Ambedkar has mentioned the idea of ​​a progressive and inclusive society in the Constitution.
