According to the Delhi Police, the incident occurred on July 10, 2026. A hearing for the case Prabal Pratap and Others vs. Government of UP was underway in Courtroom No. 13 of the Supreme Court. Prabal Pratap was appearing in court on his own behalf. It is alleged that during the hearing, he suddenly began using indecent and objectionable language. He addressed the judges as “Judicial Servants,” stating, “Mr. Judicial Servant, I order you to register an FIR against the Lucknow ASP for running a cyber-crime gang.” Upon hearing this, Justice KV Viswanathan asked, “Are you issuing orders to us?” This question further enraged the accused, who began hurling abuses at the CJI and threw the papers he was holding into the air. Security personnel subsequently escorted him out. He was briefly detained in the DSP’s office within the court complex, and no formal action was taken against him at that time. The court had also remarked that he appeared deeply distressed and frustrated, expressing sympathy for his situation. Notably, the accused, Prabal Pratap Singh, is a native of Etawah, UP, and a third-year LLB student at Lucknow University. The second accused hails from Raebareli district and is a second-year law student.
