SIR Begins in Delhi: SIR campaign launched in Delhi; over 13,000 BLOs to conduct door-to-door verification.

SIR Begins in Delhi: The ‘Special Intensive Revision’ (SIR) of the voter list has commenced today in the national capital, Delhi. The distribution of enumeration forms began today (June 30). Over 13,000 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct a door-to-door verification of the voter list, covering 1.45 crore voters across the capital. The first phase of this verification process will continue until July 29. The draft voter list is scheduled for publication on August 5, followed by the publication of the final voter list on October 7.

BLOs will visit households across all 70 assembly constituencies in Delhi to conduct verification and distribute enumeration forms. Each voter will receive two copies of the form; one copy will be retained by the voter as a receipt, while the other must be submitted to the BLO.

Booth Level Agents from political parties will assist voters in filling out and submitting these forms. According to the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Delhi, the names of voters who fail to fill out this form will be removed from the draft voter list set to be published on August 5. Officials have instructed BLOs to contact voters by visiting homes during the early morning and evening hours. BLOs have also been directed to make at least three attempts to contact residents if a house is found locked. Following the door-to-door verification under the SIR, the draft voter list will be published on August 5, and the final voter list on October 7.

A day prior to this, Delhi’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Ashok Kumar, held a press conference to provide details about the process. He stated that every existing voter would be provided with two copies of the enumeration form. Voters are required to submit one filled-out form to the BLO and obtain an acknowledgment receipt. He stated that utmost care would be taken to ensure no eligible voter is left out and no ineligible person is included in the electoral roll. If a house is found locked, the Booth Level Officer (BLO) will attempt to visit it at least three times. He informed that the draft electoral roll would be published on August 5. Claims and objections can be filed from August 5 to September 4, and all such claims and objections will be resolved by October 3.
