Today, the court granted bail to Arvind Kejriwal; Will the ED not send summons now? It’s important to understand what will happen next

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal got some relief from Rouse Avenue Court today. The court also granted him bail in the case of ignoring the ED summons. But now will ED not send summons to CM Kejriwal? What will be the path ahead for them? Understand here.

Delhi Liquor Policy Case: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has got some relief in the case of ignoring ED summons. Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court granted him bail on a personal bond of Rs 15,000. Kejriwal has ignored ED summons eight consecutive times in the Delhi liquor scam case, against which the agency had filed two petitions in the court. Today the court granted bail to Kejriwal in both these cases. That means now they will not have to come for regular appearance. But this matter will still go to court. On behalf of Kejriwal, his lawyers will present their case. What will be the way forward for Arvind Kejriwal and what will ED do now in this matter? Let us understand.

The case is not over, relief was given only from the appearance

First of all, understand that today the court has granted bail to CM Kejriwal only from the regular appearance. That means this matter is still pending in the court. Kejriwal’s lawyer argued in the court that whatever sections are there against the CM, they are bailable. He is holding a constitutional post and is also the head of a national party. In such a situation, he has many responsibilities.

But following the court’s order, Kejriwal appeared in the court today. After this, the court accepted his bail application and granted him bail on a personal bond of Rs 15,000.

Did Kejriwal get relief in liquor scam case?

Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court today heard the ED’s petitions, which the agency had filed against CM Kejriwal for ignoring the summons. The court had issued summons to Kejriwal to appear in the court. That means Kejriwal had appeared in the court to answer the court summons. Where he got relief from regular appearance. But he is still an accused in the liquor scam case.

At present, the next hearing regarding ignoring the ED summons will be held on April 1, in which Kejriwal’s application under section 207 of CrPC (supply of copy of police report and other documents to the accused) will be heard.

Can ED again send summons to Kejriwal?

ED has so far sent summons to Kejriwal 8 times for questioning in the Delhi liquor scam case. Every time he termed the ED summons as unconstitutional and did not appear. ED filed petition against it twice in the court. The special thing was that even when this matter was in the court, ED sent summons to Kejriwal.

Even in today’s hearing, the court has not given any instructions not to send summons to ED. That means, it is possible that the investigating agency may send summons to CM Kejriwal further.

Will ED arrest Kejriwal?

Till now there has been no talk by ED regarding the arrest of Kejriwal. Aam Aadmi Party leaders always claimed that ED can arrest them. He also accused ED of working for the central government. During the hearing in the court today also, Kejriwal’s lawyer asked that ED should tell whether it is sending summons considering Kejriwal as an accused or a witness?

Will Kejriwal appear before ED summons now?

Today only the case of ignoring ED summons was heard in the court, in which CM Kejriwal has got relief for the time being. The thing to be noted here is that last time when ED had issued summons even after filing a petition in the court, Kejriwal’s side said that this matter is in the court so he will not appear before the ED.

In such a situation, even if ED issues the 9th summons before the court’s decision, Kejriwal will hardly appear.
