Toll Tax Hike: Highway travel gets costlier—new rates at 5 toll plazas effective today; fees increased by ₹5 to ₹20.

Toll Tax Hike: If you are planning to travel from Udaipur towards Sirohi, Ahmedabad, or other cities in Gujarat, be prepared for an increase in travel costs. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has raised toll rates at five major toll plazas on national highways connected to Udaipur. These new rates will come into effect on July 18. According to the notification issued by the NHAI, toll charges for various vehicle categories have been increased by amounts ranging from ₹5 to ₹20. Additionally, the cost of monthly passes has been raised by ₹20 to ₹30.

This revision in toll rates is part of the annual review process. According to the NHAI, toll rates are primarily determined based on the Wholesale Price Index (WPI). The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways revises these rates annually, taking into account amenities (such as flyovers, underpasses, tunnels, etc.) and the quality of road infrastructure. The objective is to ensure the maintenance of national highways, improve traffic management, and provide modern facilities to commuters.
