New Delhi: A protest by the ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ (CJP) is underway at Jantar Mantar in the capital, Delhi. In light of this, security arrangements across the city have been stepped up. Meanwhile, the government has also taken a major decision regarding liquor shops in Delhi; sources indicate that liquor shops will now remain open only until 8 PM on weekends. This decision reportedly stems from the ongoing protests in the city.
Shops to close at 8 PM
According to sources, in view of the student protests at Jantar Mantar, liquor shops across Delhi will close two hours earlier than usual—at 8 PM instead of 10 PM—until the weekend concludes. This decision follows an incident on Thursday where liquor shops were closed early without prior notice, leaving many customers surprised and forced to return empty-handed. A senior Delhi government official stated, “Shops will now remain open only until 8 PM through the weekend. This decision is based on information received from the police regarding the situation arising from the protests at Jantar Mantar.”
18 Delhi Metro stations closed
Separately, in response to the CJP protest, the DMRC has decided to keep 18 metro stations closed today. A total of 18 stations—including key hubs like New Delhi, Rajiv Chowk, and Mandi House—will remain shut from 7:30 AM today until further orders. This step has been taken for security reasons.

However, interchange facilities will remain operational at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House, and Central Secretariat stations. This means passengers can switch trains at these locations, but entry into or exit from the stations will not be permitted.
