New Delhi: The Delhi Cabinet, chaired by CM Rekha Gupta, has approved the “Delhi Lakshmi Yojana.” Under this scheme—approved during the cabinet meeting on July 28—women will receive financial assistance of ₹2,500 per month. The Chief Minister announced that the Lakshmi Yojana portal will be launched on August 1; online applications will be accepted immediately upon its launch.

Eligibility criteria
To avail the benefits of the Lakshmi Yojana in Delhi, a woman must have resided in Delhi for at least 10 years and must not have a criminal record. Only one woman per family is eligible for this scheme. The woman must be between 21 and 60 years of age. Additionally, the family’s annual income must not exceed ₹2.5 lakh.
Potential benefit for 17 lakh women
It is worth noting that this scheme is one of the BJP’s key promises ahead of the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections. It is expected to benefit approximately 17 lakh women from economically weaker sections in Delhi. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had allocated ₹5,100 crore for this scheme while presenting the annual budget for 2026-27 in March.
Similar schemes in other BJP-ruled states
The BJP has implemented similar schemes in other states under its governance. Madhya Pradesh has the ‘Ladli Behna Yojana,’ and Maharashtra has the ‘Ladki Bahin Yojana.’ Under both these schemes, funds are deposited directly into the women’s bank accounts. Kejriwal had also launched a similar scheme
The Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP government had launched the ‘Mahila Samman Yojana’, under which eligible women over the age of 18 were provided ₹1,000 per month. While announcing the 2024-25 budget, the then AAP government had made a provision of ₹2,000 crore for this scheme.
