5 Women, Former CM’s Son, and a Leader Who Was a Minister in the AAP Government Get Tickets… Key Highlights of BJP’s 2nd Candidate List

Delhi Assembly Elections: BJP has released the second list for Delhi Assembly elections 2025. In which the names of 29 candidates have been announced. Five women candidates have also been given tickets in this list.

Delhi Assembly Elections: BJP has released the second list of 29 names on Saturday night for the Delhi Assembly elections. 5 women have been given tickets, among them 2 are SC. There are names of 3 SC leaders in the list. Kapil Mishra has got the ticket from Karawal Nagar. On Friday, a meeting of the BJP Core Committee was held at the residence of party’s national president JP Nadda and a meeting of the Central Election Committee (CEC) was held at the BJP headquarters. Candidates were decided in this meeting.

Special representation to women

5 women have been given place in BJP’s second list, which has made the total number of women candidates to 7 so far. This is considered to be another big step of BJP towards women empowerment. In the first list, BJP has given ticket to Rekha Gupta from Shalimar Bagh. While Kumari Rinku has been fielded from Seemapuri (SC).

Prominent names of the first list

In the first list, BJP had included Pravesh Verma, former MP Ramesh Bidhuri and former Congress leader and minister Arvinder Singh Lovely. BJP has fielded Pravesh Verma against former CM Arvind Kejriwal from New Delhi assembly seat. While former MP Ramesh Bidhuri has been fielded against Delhi CM Atishi from Kalkaji seat.

Electoral contest between AAP and BJP

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had announced its candidates for all 70 seats in December itself. Congress has announced candidates for 47 seats so far. BJP has announced names for 58 out of 70 seats so far. Let us tell you that voting will be held on all 70 seats of Delhi in a single phase on February 5. The results will be declared on February 8. It will take about 35 days from the day of announcement of dates to complete the election process i.e. till February 10. 

In BJP’s first list, 7 leaders who left AAP also got tickets

BJP released the first list of candidates on 4 January. There were 29 names in the list. Among them, 7 leaders had left AAP and Congress and joined BJP. In the first list, the party had given tickets again to most of the candidates who got tickets in the last assembly elections. The party repeated 13 candidates, while the tickets of 16 were changed.

Voting in Delhi on February 5, results on February 8

Election Commission announced Delhi Assembly elections on January 7. Voting will be held on all 70 seats of Delhi in a single phase on February 5. The results will be declared on February 8. It will take about 35 days from the day of announcement of dates to complete the election process i.e. till February 10.

In the one and a half hour long press conference, CEC Rajiv Kumar spoke for only 10 minutes on Delhi elections. For more than an hour, he responded to the opposition’s allegations on EVM, irregularities in voter list and removal of names of voters of a particular category.

The former CM will face the sons of two former CMs

BJP has fielded Pravesh Verma from New Delhi seat against former CM Arvind Kejriwal and Congress has fielded Sandeep Dixit. In this way, former CM Kejriwal will face the sons of two former CMs. Pravesh Verma is the son of former CM Sahib Singh Verma and Sandeep Dixit is the son of former CM Sheila Dixit.

AAP has announced candidates on all 70 seats

AAP has announced the names of 70 candidates in a total of 5 lists in 30 days between 21 November and 20 December. In the fifth list released on 20 December, the name of the candidate from Mehrauli seat was changed. Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj will contest from Greater Kailash, Satyendra Jain from Shakur Basti.

This time, tickets of 26 sitting MLAs have been cut. Seats of 4 MLAs have been changed. Among them, Manish Sisodia’s seat has been changed from Patparganj to Jangpura, Rakhi Bidlan’s seat from Mangolpuri to Madipur, Praveen Kumar’s seat from Jangpura to Janakpuri and Durgesh Pathak’s seat from Karawal Nagar to Rajendra Nagar.

Congress releases 3 lists, 48 ​​candidates announced so far Congress has announced 48 candidates in 3 lists for the Delhi Assembly elections so far. Congress’s first list on December 12 had 21 names. The second list released on December 24 had 26 names. Congress has given ticket to Farhad Suri from Jangpura seat. AAP’s Manish Sisodia is contesting from here. Haji Mohammad Ishraq Khan has been fielded against AAP’s Gopal Rai from Babarpur seat.
