Axar Patel creates history in T20 cricket, becomes the first Indian all-rounder to achieve such a feat.

Indian team’s star all-rounder Axar Patel has made history by achieving a major milestone in T20 cricket. During the fourth T20 match against New Zealand on October 30, he reached the mark of 300 wickets. With this, he has become the first Indian all-rounder to record over 3,000 runs and 300 wickets in T20 cricket. Axar reached this significant milestone by dismissing New Zealand batter Finn Allen. However, despite this historic achievement, the Indian team suffered an 87-run defeat in the match. India still leads the five-match series 3-1.

Axar Patel joins the ranks of elite all-rounders

Only a select few players worldwide have managed the feat of taking 300 wickets and scoring over 3,000 runs in T20 cricket. Axar Patel’s name has now been added to this exclusive list, joining stalwarts like Rashid Khan, Sunil Narine, and Andre Russell, who have previously reached this milestone.

Axar Patel has played 345 T20 matches to date, claiming 300 wickets. He has also performed impressively with the bat, accumulating 3,818 runs at an average of 21.94 and a strike rate of 134.43, including 9 half-centuries.

Axar fails to fire with the bat in the fourth T20

In the fourth T20 match against New Zealand, Axar Patel could not make a significant impact with the bat; he scored only 7 runs before being dismissed by captain Mitchell Santner.

In the same match, New Zealand’s Glenn Phillips played a blistering innings, scoring 107 runs off just 49 balls, while Michael Bracewell also contributed an explosive 65 runs off 25 deliveries. The two batters put together a 115-run partnership for the fifth wicket, taking New Zealand’s score to 259 for 7. This was the highest score by any team in a T20 International against India.

Chasing a target of 260, the Indian batting lineup completely collapsed. The team could only manage 172 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Consequently, New Zealand won the match by 87 runs. Nevertheless, having won the first three matches, India still holds a 3-1 lead in the five-match series.
