Big blow for Team India ahead of the IND vs NZ ODI series; two players suddenly ruled out.

IND vs NZ ODI: Only two days remain before the five-match ODI series between India and New Zealand begins. Following the T20 International series, both teams are now shifting their focus to preparations for the ODIs. However, the New Zealand side has been dealt a major blow ahead of the series, with two key players ruled out due to injury. Consequently, New Zealand Cricket has been forced to make several changes to its squad.

Mark Chapman and Rachin Ravindra ruled out due to injury

The first match of the ODI series between India and New Zealand is scheduled for November 4. New Zealand had already announced its squad for the series; however, Mark Chapman and Rachin Ravindra have not fully recovered from their respective injuries and will therefore be unable to participate in the ODI series.

Mark Chapman is suffering from a hamstring injury, and it is reported that he may require about two weeks to achieve full fitness. Meanwhile, Rachin Ravindra sustained a shoulder injury—specifically a dislocated shoulder—during a promotional shoot, which means he will also have to wait before he can return to the field.

New Zealand makes several changes to the ODI squad

Following the withdrawal of these two players, New Zealand Cricket has brought in replacements. Tim Seifert has been added to the squad for the first three ODIs; he was previously selected only for the final two matches of the series. Seifert performed well during the T20 series, where he also opened the batting.

Additionally, Henry Nicholls and Dean Foxcroft have been included in the squad. Nicholls will be available for the first ODI, while Foxcroft will join the team for the final two matches.

Furthermore, Matt Fisher has received a significant opportunity; initially selected only for the last two ODIs, he will now be available for all five matches of the series. New Zealand squad for the first three ODIs against India:

Mitchell Santner (captain), Michael Bracewell, Devon Conway, Jacob Duffy, Matt Fisher, Henry, Kyle Jamieson, Tom Latham (wicketkeeper), Daryl Mitchell, Henry Nicholls, Glenn Phillips, Tim Seifert, Nathan Smith, Will Young, and Blair Tickner.

New Zealand squad for the final two ODIs:

Mitchell Santner (captain), Finn Allen, Michael Bracewell, Christian Clark, Jacob Duffy, Matt Fisher, Dean Foxcroft, Lockie Ferguson, Mitch Hay (wicketkeeper), Nick Kelly, Tim Seifert (wicketkeeper), Blair Tickner, and Will Young.
