DC vs RCB IPL 2024: Bangalore opens the ‘claw’ of victory, defeats Delhi by 47 runs; Playoff hopes remain intact

DC vs RCB IPL 2024: Batting first in the 62nd match of IPL, RCB scored 187 runs for 9 wickets. Acting captain Akshar Patel scored the highest 57 runs for Delhi. RCB's win has increased its chances of reaching the playoffs by about 35 percent. RCB has become the first team to win five consecutive matches in IPL 2024.

DC vs RCB IPL 2024: Royal Challengers Bangalore have kept their playoff hopes alive in IPL 2024 by defeating Delhi Capitals by 47 runs. In the match played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, RCB successfully defended their score of 187 runs. This is RCB’s sixth win in 13 matches. With this win, RCB’s chances of reaching the playoffs have increased by about 35 percent. At the same time, this is Delhi’s seventh defeat in thirteen matches. Delhi Capitals have 12 points. RCB has to play one more match in the league stage. She can reach 14 points by winning her last match. This is RCB’s fifth consecutive win. With this win, RCB has reached the fifth position. RCB’s win has increased its chances of reaching the playoffs by about 35 percent.

While chasing the target of 188 runs set by RCB, Delhi Capitals (RCB vs DC) were all out for 140 runs in 19.1 overs. David Warner and Jake Fraser McGurk started the innings for Delhi. Warner was out after scoring one run while McGurk was run out for a personal score of 21 runs. Delhi lost its 4 wickets for a total score of 30. Abhishek Porel was out after scoring 2 runs while Kumar Kushagra was out after scoring 2 runs. Shai Hope was out after scoring 29 runs while Tristan Stubbs was run out after scoring 3 runs. Acting captain Akshar Patel did hit a half-century but he left his team in the lurch. Akshar played an innings of 57 runs off 39 balls.

Patidar’s fifty, RCB scored 187 runs for 9 wickets

Earlier, RCB scored 187 runs for 9 wickets due to Rajat Patidar’s half-century. Apart from scoring 52 runs in 32 balls with three sixes and three fours, Patidar also shared an 88-run partnership for the third wicket with Will Jacks (41 runs in 29 balls, three fours, two sixes). Cameron Green finally scored an unbeaten 32 runs in 24 balls. For Delhi, Rasikh Salam (23/2) and Khaleel Ahmed (31/1) took two wickets each. Ishant Sharma, Mukesh Sharma and Kuldeep Yadav took one wicket each.

RCB lost the wickets of Virat-Duplessis at the score of 36

Delhi’s acting captain Akshar Patel won the toss and decided to bowl first. RCB lost the wickets of both the openers captain Faf du Plessis (06) and Virat Kohli (27) in the fourth over at the score of 36 runs. Du Plessis got caught by Jake Fraser-McGurk on the ball of Mukesh Kumar in the third over. Kohli hit two sixes on Ishant Sharma but got caught by wicketkeeper Abhishek Porel on the ball of this fast bowler. Patidar hit three fours on Mukesh as soon as he came while welcomed Akshar with a six.

RCB scored 61 runs for 2 wickets in the powerplay

play. Patidar also hit a six on Kuldeep Yadav while Will Jacks also sent the ball of this left-arm spinner into the crowd. Patidar completed his half-century in 29 balls

with a single off Khalil’s ball but was caught by Akshar off Rasikh Salam in the next over. Jacques too was caught by Akshar off Kuldeep’s ball. Cameron Green hit two consecutive sixes off Kuldeep while Mahipal Lomror (13) also hit a six off the spinner but despite this, RCB could only score 77 runs for seven wickets in the final 10 overs.

Bangalore set a target of 188 runs for Delhi

Delhi made a great comeback in the final overs and restricted Bangalore to just 187 runs. At one point, it seemed that RCB would easily cross 220, but due to losing wickets regularly and scoring just 17 runs in the last 3 overs, Bangalore’s team could only score 187 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs. For RCB, Rajat Patidar scored 52 runs in 32 balls, Will Jacks scored 41 runs in 29 balls, Virat Kohli scored 27 runs in 13 balls and Cameron Green scored an unbeaten 32 runs in 24 balls.
