Srikkanth vs. Gautam Gambhir: After scoring 14, 13, and 15 runs in three matches against England, Vaibhav Suryavanshi was dropped from the fifth T20I of the England tour. Former Indian captain Srikkanth is displeased with Gambhir’s strategy of shuffling the playing XI and has termed this move extremely foolish. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Srikkanth said, “Vaibhav possesses a magnificent range of shots; yet, he didn’t play a single cross-batted shot—this boy is truly special. Why did Gautam Gambhir foolishly drop him from the team after three failures and shatter his confidence?”
In Gambhir’s absence, legendary Indian Test batter VVS Laxman is at the helm of the team. Srikkanth added, “I salute Vaibhav’s dedication. After the England series, he didn’t go home but headed straight to the Rajasthan Royals camp. He is working on his batting against the short ball; he wants to prove to the entire world that he is special.”
Srikkanth has highly praised Vaibhav Suryavanshi for maintaining his naturally aggressive batting style despite failing in three consecutive innings. Srikkanth remarked, “The ease with which he scores runs at a strike rate of 250 is extraordinary. Usually, after three failures, other players would try to save their spot in the Indian team by settling for singles and doubles. But he played fearlessly, without worrying about the outcome. Scoring 50 runs off 18 balls has become child’s play for him; that is his greatness.”
It is worth noting that in the first T20 match against Zimbabwe, Vaibhav played an innings of 50 runs off 19 balls, becoming the youngest batter to score a half-century in international cricket. Now, fans are hoping for another spectacular performance from Vaibhav in the second T20.
