IPL 2024: RCB Playoff Scenarios – Punjab’s Dreams Shattered, How Bangalore’s Hopes Intact! Know the Math to Qualify

IPL 2024: Till the 58th match of IPL 2024, no team has qualified for the playoffs, but two teams are out of the race. After winning against Punjab, Bangalore's hopes are alive.

So far two teams have been eliminated from the IPL playoffs. But no team has qualified for the playoffs yet. So far, very interesting matches have been seen in this IPL. After Bangalore’s win against Punjab on Thursday, Bangalore’s hopes for the playoffs have increased.

Current position of Royal Challengers Bangalore

Bangalore has 10 points in the points table. The current net run rate is +0.217. Royal Challengers will need at least 14 points. Now Bangalore has two more matches left. Their next match is against Delhi Capitals and the last match is against Chennai Super Kings.

The most direct way for RCB to reach the playoffs is that

Chennai Super Kings will first have to lose to Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals. After this, Lucknow Super Giants will have to lose at least one of their remaining two matches. Then Royal Challengers Bangalore will have to defeat Chennai Super Kings in the second and last match of the group stage.

After this, Royal Challengers Bangalore will have 14 points. Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants will both have 12 or 14 points and Chennai Super Kings will have 12 points. Bangalore will then reach the fourth position due to better net run rate.

Two teams out of playoffs

Till the 58th match of IPL 2024, two teams have been eliminated. In the 57th match of IPL 2024, after Lucknow Super Giants and Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians became the first team to be officially eliminated from the playoff race of IPL 2024. After this, Punjab Kings became the second team to be eliminated from the playoff race after losing to Bangalore in the 58th match.
