Rajasthan’s top order failed
Rajasthan Royals failed to get off to a good start while chasing the big target of 224 runs set by Kolkata. Yashasvi Jaiswal and captain Sanju Samson lost wickets in quick succession. The team’s decision to send R Ashwin up the order proved futile and he could score only 8 runs. Last match’s hero Shimron Hetmyer was out on the first ball itself. Riyan Parag played a quick innings of 34 runs off 14 balls but he too could not last long.
Sunil Narine took wickets after century
Kolkata Knight Riders mentor Gautam Gambhir’s trusted player Sunil Narine continued his top form and scored his first century in IPL. The decision to give the experienced spinner the responsibility of opening proved to be correct and he scored 50 runs with the help of 5 fours and 3 sixes in 29 balls. Even after this, Narine did not stop batting and scored a century by hitting 11 fours and 6 sixes in 49 balls. Narine, who created a stir in batting, took 2 important wickets by giving 30 runs in 4 overs. He dismissed Dhruv Jurel and Rovman Powell.
