SRH vs PBKS IPL 2024: Before the playoffs, Sunrisers Hyderabad chased a big score, Orange Army reached second place, defeated Punjab

SRH vs PBKS IPL 2024: Punjab Kings had set a target of 215 runs in front of Sunrisers Hyderabad. Opener Prabhsimran Singh scored the highest 71 runs for Punjab. In response, Sunrisers Hyderabad won by 6 wickets in 19.1 overs.

Punjab had set a target of 215 runs in front of Hyderabad. Hyderabad achieved the target with 5 balls to spare. Abhishek Sharma played an innings of 66 runs for Sunrisers. Sunrisers Hyderabad also equaled their biggest run chase during this period.

Punjab scored 214 runs for 5 wickets

Earlier, Punjab Kings posted a challenging score of 214 runs for 5 wickets on the back of opener Prabhsimran Singh’s innings of 71 runs in 45 balls. Apart from hitting seven fours and four sixes in his aggressive innings, Prabhsimran shared a 55-ball 97 with Atharva Tayde for the first wicket and a 32-ball 54 with Riley Rosso for the second wicket. Both Tayde and Rosso missed out on completing their half-centuries. Tayde scored 46 runs in 27 balls with the help of five fours and two sixes, while Rosso played a blistering innings of 49 runs in 24 balls with the help of three fours and four sixes.

Jitesh Sharma scored 32 not out off 15 balls

Jitesh Sharma, who is leading the team due to the return of acting captain Sam Curran to England, scored 32 not out off 15 balls in the last overs to take the team’s score to 214 runs. For Sunrisers Hyderabad, T Natarajan took two wickets for 33 runs in four overs. Captain Pat Cummins and Vijaykant Vyaskant got one wicket each. Prabhsimran hit fours against Bhuvneshwar while Tayde hit fours against Cummins and Natarajan to give Punjab an aggressive start.

Punjab had scored 61 runs in the powerplay without losing any wicket

Prabhsimran hit a six over fine leg against Cummins while Tayde hit a six over long on against Bhuvneshwar to take the team’s score to 61 runs without any loss in the powerplay. The aggressive style of both continued even after the initial six overs. Tayde welcomed left-arm spinner Shahbaz Ahmed with a four and a six to put pressure on Sunrisers. Natarajan showed Tayde the way to the pavilion in the 10th over and stopped him from completing his half-century and century partnership with Prabhsimran. He conceded only two runs in this over.

Punjab had scored 151 runs for 1 wicket in the 14th over

Prabhsimran completed his half-century in 34 balls by taking two runs against Vijaykant Vyaskant in the next over and hit a six over the log-on. Rosso, who came to the crease, opened his hands by hitting a four and a six off Nitish Kumar Reddy’s ball and then sent Natarajan’s ball into the spectators’ gallery. The team was in a better position after the 14th over by scoring 151 runs for 1 wicket, but Prabhsimran’s aggressive innings was ended by Klaasen’s brilliant catch off Vyaskant’s ball in the 15th over.

Jitesh Sharma took Punjab’s score to 200 by hitting a four

Rosso hit a six and a four against Reddy, but Shashank Singh (two), who was in great form, was run out due to some mistake along with him. Bhuvneshwar curbed the run rate by giving only six runs in his last and 17th over of the innings, which benefited Cummins with the wickets of Rosso and Natarajan with the wickets of Ashutosh Sharma (two runs). Jitesh took the team to 200 runs by hitting a four off Reddy’s ball in the last over and hit consecutive sixes on the last two balls.
