After Arnab, now the impact of ‘Murasu’! Weather in Chhattisgarh set to change again; alert issued for heavy rain and lightning.

Raipur: The weather in Chhattisgarh is set to change once again. Following the impact of a previous cyclonic storm, the state is now expected to be affected by ‘Cyclone Murasu,’ which has formed in the Bay of Bengal. According to the Meteorological Department, this system will lead to an increase in rainfall across several parts of Chhattisgarh. Heavy rain is possible in some areas today, November 2, while most parts of the state are likely to experience rainfall on November 3 and 4.

What will the weather be like in Raipur today?

In the capital, Raipur, and its surrounding areas, the sky is expected to remain cloudy on Monday. The Meteorological Department has forecast rain accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds. During this period, the city’s maximum temperature is expected to be around 30°C, with a minimum temperature of approximately 20°C.

Weather to shift due to Cyclone Murasu

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the cyclonic system active in the Bay of Bengal could intensify into a severe cyclonic storm by the morning of November 2. It is expected to reach the coast of southern Andhra Pradesh—between Nellore and Narsapur—by the morning of November 3. During this time, wind speeds could reach 100 to 110 km/h, with gusts potentially hitting 120 km/h.

The impact of this cyclone is expected to be felt not only in coastal states but also in Chhattisgarh. The Meteorological Department has warned of an increase in rainfall across the state. Specifically, on November 3 and 4, central and southern Chhattisgarh may experience heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds, with wind speeds potentially reaching 50 km/h.

Risk of heavy rain and lightning in several areas

According to the Meteorological Department, light to moderate rainfall is expected in some parts of the state on November 2. Additionally, there is a possibility of heavy rain and lightning strikes in one or two locations. The scope of rainfall may expand over the next two days. During this period, some areas are likely to experience extremely heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds reaching speeds of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour.

Given this, the next three days will be quite significant in terms of the weather in Chhattisgarh.
