Weather Update, 5 September 2026: Rain has been continuing in the national capital, Delhi, and the NCR region since Friday. The Meteorological Department has forecast that the rainfall will persist on Saturday as well, continuing throughout the day across Delhi and the NCR. A drop in temperature has been recorded in Delhi due to the rain. Additionally, waterlogging issues have been observed in the Delhi-NCR region. Notably, adverse weather conditions forced the diversion of at least 11 flights at Delhi Airport on Friday.
Rain Continues in Several UP Districts Today
Regarding Uttar Pradesh, the Meteorological Department has stated that rain is likely in several areas of Western Uttar Pradesh over the next 24 hours. Rainfall is also expected in parts of Eastern Uttar Pradesh, with a possibility of lightning strikes in some locations. Meanwhile, water levels in several rivers across the state are surging. More than one-third of the districts in UP have been affected; floods have impacted approximately 3.53 lakh people across 26 districts, with 17,544 people relocated to safe areas and 4,847 currently staying in relief camps.
Flood Threat Amidst Rain in Bihar
The Meteorological Department has forecast rain in Bihar’s Kishanganj, Purnia, Katihar, Saharsa, and Madhepura districts, accompanied by a risk of lightning strikes. Sudden weather changes are also possible in East Champaran, West Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, and Saran. According to the department, the rainy spell is expected to continue in the state until September 9. Several districts in Bihar remain under threat of floods; hundreds of acres of land have already been submerged by rivers, and water levels in the Ganga and other rivers continue to rise.
Rain Expected in Himachal Pradesh Until September 10
Similarly, the Meteorological Department has issued a warning for heavy rainfall in isolated parts of Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra and Sirmaur districts on Saturday. The Meteorological Department has forecast that the spell of rain will continue in the state until September 10. According to the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), a total of 87 roads in the state have been closed due to the rain; the highest number of closures—37 roads—is in Mandi district. This is followed by 22 roads in Kullu, eight in Kangra, five in Chamba, four each in Sirmaur and Una, three in Shimla, two in Solan, and one each in Lahaul-Spiti and Bilaspur.
