Weather Update: Weather to change in Delhi-NCR today; heavy rain alert for UP, Bihar, and MP; check the situation in other states.

The Meteorological Department has reported the rapid advancement of the monsoon across large parts of the country today, June 30. Alerts for heavy rain, thunderstorms, and lightning strikes have been issued for 17 states over the next 15 hours. Strong winds reaching speeds of 60–70 km/h are expected in some areas during this period.

Weather outlook for Delhi-NCR
There is welcome news for residents of Delhi-NCR, who have been enduring scorching heat and high humidity. Light drizzle, dust storms, and strong winds are likely today. The monsoon is expected to become fully active in Delhi over the next 5 to 6 days.

Heavy rain and storm warning for UP
Alerts for heavy rain and thunderstorms have been issued for over 21 districts in Uttar Pradesh, including Meerut, Noida, Ghaziabad, Agra, Aligarh, Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, and Prayagraj.

Heavy rain and storm alert for Bihar
Warnings have been issued for heavy rain and strong winds (65–70 km/h) across several districts in Bihar, including the capital Patna, Gaya, Bhagalpur, Purnia, and Samastipur.

Heavy rainfall expected in Rajasthan this week
Conditions are highly favorable for the monsoon’s advance in Rajasthan. Light to moderate rainfall is expected in the Kota, Udaipur, Jaipur, and Bharatpur divisions. Rainfall activity is set to intensify significantly in eastern Rajasthan between July 3 and July 5.

Alerts for several districts in MP, including Bhopal
The maximum temperature in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, is forecast to be 30°C today (June 30). Heavy rain warnings have been issued for several districts, including Rajgarh, Mandsaur, Vidisha, Seoni, and Chhatarpur. Wind speeds could reach 60–65 km/h during this time.

Likelihood of very heavy rain in Maharashtra on July 2 and 3
A spell of continuous rainfall is expected to persist across Central Maharashtra, Konkan, and Goa until July 5. Moisture levels are rising due to a cyclonic system over the Arabian Sea, raising the likelihood of very heavy rainfall in the state on July 2 and 3.

Weather conditions in other states:
The monsoon is expected to cover the entire state of Uttarakhand over the next two days. A ‘Yellow Alert’ for heavy rain has been issued for Pauri, Pithoragarh, and Bageshwar. Thunderstorms and winds gusting at 30–40 km/h are likely in hilly areas, leading to a temperature drop of 4 to 6 degrees Celsius.
Rainfall is expected to continue in Himachal Pradesh until July 4. Due to a fresh Western Disturbance arriving on July 2, an ‘Orange Alert’ for heavy to very heavy rainfall has been issued for districts including Kangra, Mandi, Kullu, Shimla, and Solan for July 2 and 3.
Heavy rain, lightning, and thunderstorms are forecast for the Nilgiris, Dindigul, and Theni districts of Tamil Nadu. Light to moderate rainfall is expected today in other districts, including Chennai, Kanchipuram, and Madurai.
