Weather Update: Weather conditions are changing rapidly across many parts of the country. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for rain and strong winds on September 7 in several states, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar. Wind speeds could reach up to 70 km/h in some areas. According to the department, the rainfall may be accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning strikes. Continuous rain in hilly states could increase the risk of landslides and flash floods, while water levels in rivers across the plains are likely to rise.
Strong winds and rain in Delhi
On September 7, the weather in the national capital, Delhi, is expected to be pleasant but may also bring some inconvenience. Moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms is likely in several areas, with wind speeds potentially reaching 50 km/h.
Alert for UP and Bihar
Weather conditions in Uttar Pradesh will be affected over the next two days. Rain is expected in parts of Western UP on September 7, and in Eastern UP on September 7 and 8. There is also a risk of strong winds, thunderstorms, and lightning strikes.
Rain and thunderstorms are also likely in several parts of Bihar on September 7. People are advised to avoid open areas and taking shelter under trees.
Rain to cause difficulties in hilly regions
In Uttarakhand, rain, thunderstorms, and lightning strikes are expected not only on September 7 but also between September 10 and 12. Heavy rainfall could increase the risk of landslides and traffic disruptions on mountain roads.
Rain is also forecast for Himachal Pradesh on September 7.
Weather to change in Central India too
Rainfall is likely to continue in Madhya Pradesh. Rain is expected in Western Madhya Pradesh on September 7, and in Eastern Madhya Pradesh on September 7–8 and September 11–12.
In Chhattisgarh, rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning strikes is likely in several areas between September 8 and 12. Rainfall from Gujarat to Goa
Regarding Western India, rainfall is likely in several areas of Konkan and Goa between September 7 and 12.
Scattered rainfall is also possible in Gujarat, Saurashtra-Kutch, Madhya Maharashtra, and Marathwada during the period of September 7–12.
Focus on Bengal, Jharkhand, and Odisha
According to the Meteorological Department, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the next 48 hours, moving from North Odisha and Jharkhand towards West Bengal. This is expected to increase rainfall across several parts of Eastern India.
A spell of rain is likely in West Bengal from September 7 to 10.
Rainfall is expected in Jharkhand between September 8 and 11, and in Odisha between September 10 and 12.
Rain is forecast for Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim from September 7 to 12; heavy rainfall may occur in some areas on September 7–8 and September 11–12.
Rainfall in the Northeast as well
Rainfall is likely in several areas of Arunachal Pradesh from September 7 to 12. Widespread rainfall is also predicted for Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura during this period.
Rain may occur at isolated places in Assam and Meghalaya on September 9 and 10.
Monsoon to remain active in South India too
Rainfall will also be observed across several states in South India. Areas including Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal may receive rainfall between September 7 and 12.
Thunderstorms and lightning are likely in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal from September 7 to 10.
Meanwhile, heavy rainfall may occur at isolated places in Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam on September 11–12.
