Ayatollah Ali Khamenei Funeral: Mojtaba Khamenei, son of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, will not attend his father’s funeral due to security concerns. This information was provided by Ayatollah Hakim Elahi, the representative of Iran’s Supreme Leader in India. According to Elahi, Mojtaba Khamenei’s public attendance at the funeral was deemed unsafe given the threats and surveillance risks posed by Israel. Consequently, he decided to stay away from the funeral ceremony.
Araghchi tells US: ‘Control Israel’
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi issued a stern warning to the US on Wednesday. He urged US President Donald Trump to rein in Israel. This statement came after Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz reportedly stated that Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei was a target. Araghchi wrote on the social media platform X:
‘Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba is in our crosshairs’
In his post, Araghchi also referenced Katz’s statement. According to reports, Katz had said on Monday that Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei was “in the crosshairs of death.” He also remarked that the Iranians are “good negotiators” who try to secure concessions during talks. He reiterated that Israel would not allow Iran to develop nuclear weapons, adding, “It would be even better if this were achieved through an agreement.”
‘All parties agreed to continue talks’
Earlier, on July 1, Qatar and Pakistan held separate meetings in Doha with representatives from the US and Iran. Positive progress was reported regarding issues related to a 14-point Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during these meetings. Majid Al-Ansari, Advisor to the Prime Minister of Qatar and official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated on X that all parties have agreed to continue the talks. He added that the next meeting would be scheduled soon after the funeral proceedings for the former Iranian Supreme Leader are concluded.
Events to be held in Iran and Iraq from July 4 to July 9
According to Iranian officials, events related to the funeral of the former Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, will be held at various locations in Iran and Iraq from July 4 to July 9. Reports indicate that Ali Khamenei died on February 28 in an airstrike that occurred on the first day of the war between the US-Israel alliance and Iran.
