Etihad Airways flight from Chennai to Abu Dhabi cancelled after fire on wing

An Etihad Airways flight carrying nearly 280 passengers from Chennai to Abu Dhabi was cancelled on Tuesday after a fire was detected on the aircraft’s left wing during take-off preparations at Chennai airport.

According to airport officials, the aircraft was preparing for departure when the pilots noticed flames on the wing and immediately aborted the take-off process as a precautionary measure. All passengers were safely evacuated from the aircraft and no injuries were reported in the incident.

Fire service personnel rushed to the spot shortly after the alert and managed to quickly extinguish the blaze on the aircraft’s wing, officials said.

Authorities confirmed that the situation was brought under control without any casualties or harm to passengers. Following the incident, the airline cancelled the scheduled flight to Abu Dhabi. Officials have not yet revealed the exact cause of the fire. It also remains unclear whether a detailed technical investigation has been initiated into the incident.

Airport authorities and airline officials are expected to assess the aircraft before further operational decisions are taken. The incident briefly triggered concern among passengers and airport staff, though emergency response teams acted swiftly to ensure safety protocols were followed.
