PM Modi welcomes US–Iran Peace deal, calls it step toward regional stability after months of conflict

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has welcomed the recent peace agreement between the United States and Iran, expressing hope that it will help restore stability in West Asia after nearly 100 days of intense conflict.

Taking to the diplomatic developments unfolding in the region, Modi said the understanding between Washington and Tehran could mark a turning point for peace and security in the Middle East, especially after months of heightened tensions and military escalation.

The agreement, announced by US President Donald Trump, is aimed at ending hostilities between the two nations and reopening key channels of dialogue and trade that had been disrupted during the conflict.

Modi emphasised that successful implementation of the deal would not only help reduce regional instability but also ensure the safety of critical global maritime routes, including energy shipping lanes vital to international trade.

The peace initiative has been widely viewed as a significant diplomatic breakthrough, with multiple countries welcoming efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region. India’s response aligns with its long-standing policy of supporting dialogue and peaceful resolution of international disputes.

The development comes at a crucial time, as global markets and energy supply chains had been under pressure due to prolonged instability in the region.
