IS Congress ready for Lok Sabha Elections 2024? Convenors appointed for 539 Lok Sabha seats

Lok Sabha Election 2024: Congress party will hold talks with Aam Aadmi Party on seat sharing in Punjab and Delhi on January 8. The party gave information about the role of all these leaders.

Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Congress on Sunday (January 7) released a list of coordinators for 539 Lok Sabha constituencies who will assess the political situation in their respective areas and India. Will give a feedback to the party leadership for seat-sharing talks in the alliance. This announcement of appointing the coordinator has come at a time when the main opposition party has started preparations in full swing for the Lok Sabha elections. >

Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said in a post on X that the Congress Party has released the list of convenors for 539 parliamentary constituencies of the country and the list for the remaining four constituencies is coming soon. He wrote, “We are ready! India will change. India will win!”

Seat coordination with India alliance

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge had said in a press conference on Saturday (January 6) that the party will decide how many seats it will contest, but the party has finalized observers in all the more than 500 constituencies. “They will get access to every parliamentary constituency and ultimately when the India alliance is here, the exact numbers will be revealed when we hold talks in each state,” he said.

Convenor appointed for 539 Lok Sabha seats

Jairam Ramesh said, “Today we are thinking that we are getting an A seat. Suppose our alliance partners do not agree that you should take C seat. Therefore, we are deploying observers in each constituency.” Along with the list of convenors of 539 constituencies in the country, the party said in a statement that the Congress President has appointed parliamentary constituency-wise convenors for the upcoming general elections. The proposal has been approved with immediate effect.

According to party sources, formal talks regarding seat sharing with Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab and Delhi will start from Monday (January 8). He told that the process of negotiations has started with some parties.

Team has been formed regarding seat distribution

Congress’ five-member committee on seat-sharing has already held consultations with state Congress chiefs and submitted its findings to party chief Kharge. Convener of this committee is Mukul Wasnik and senior leaders Ashok Gehlot and Bhupesh Baghel are members.

Meanwhile, Congress has also formed the State Election Committee of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee, whose Chairman Bhupen Bora and Vice Chairman Debabrata Saikia have been made. There are a total of 38 members in this committee, out of which four are additional ex-officio members.

Congress also appointed six vice-presidents, seven general secretaries and 19 secretaries in the Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee. The party also appointed a treasurer and 41 executive members in the Tripura unit, which is headed by Ashish Saha.
