Bengaluru PG Fire: 50 Women Escape by Jumping From Burning Building in Nandini Layout

Around 50 women had a narrow escape after a fire broke out at a paying guest (PG) accommodation in Nandini Layout, forcing residents to jump from the building to save themselves. Fortunately, no deaths or serious injuries were reported. According to officials, the blaze quickly engulfed the building, triggering panic among the occupants. Residents acted swiftly and evacuated the premises, preventing what could have turned into a major tragedy.

Fire and emergency services rushed to the spot after receiving an alert and managed to bring the situation under control. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire and how it spread so rapidly through the structure.

The incident has once again raised concerns about fire safety compliance in PG accommodations across Bengaluru, especially those operating in congested areas alongside commercial establishments.

Civic authorities have previously taken action against such violations. In April last year, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) shut down over 300 PG accommodations for failing to meet safety norms. With a growing number of students and working professionals relying on PG housing in the city, the latest incident has intensified calls for stricter enforcement of safety regulations. The BBMP had earlier issued guidelines mandating permits, installation of CCTV cameras, and adherence to hygiene and infrastructure standards for such properties. Officials are yet to confirm whether any action will be taken against the owners of the affected building.
