A fire incident involving a passenger’s power bank onboard an IndiGo aircraft led to an emergency evacuation at Chandigarh airport on Tuesday. The aircraft was stationary after landing when smoke was noticed inside the cabin, prompting swift action by the crew.
According to sources, IndiGo flight 6E 108, which had arrived from Hyderabad, experienced smoke emanating from an overhead bin. The smoke was later confirmed to have been caused by a passenger’s personal electronic device, a power bank, which caught fire.
Following safety protocols, the airline immediately evacuated all passengers and crew from the aircraft. IndiGo stated that all customers were safely moved to the terminal and were being assisted by ground staff to ensure their well-being.
