DTC bus hits man near Dhaula Kuan metro station, driver flees

A 40-year-old man was killed after a speeding DTC bus hit him near the Dhaula Kuan Metro station in southwest Delhi on Friday morning, police said.

The victim, identified as Vijay Singh, a resident of Uttar Pradesh’s Uttar Pradesh (Unnao), was attempting to cross the road near an exit gate of the metro station when the accident occurred.

According to police, an orange Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus struck him with significant force, killing him on the spot. A motorcyclist who was passing by also lost balance and suffered minor injuries in the incident.

The bus driver fled the scene along with the vehicle immediately after the crash.

Police teams reached the spot soon after receiving information and shifted the body to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital for post-mortem and legal formalities.

Officials said CCTV footage from nearby traffic intersections, metro exits, and surrounding establishments is being examined to identify the bus and trace the absconding driver.
