Twisha Sharma’s last rites were performed in Bhopal on Sunday, 12 days after her death, following the completion of legal and medical procedures linked to the ongoing investigation into her case.
Her body was handed over to the family after a second autopsy conducted by a special medical board from AIIMS Delhi.
The prolonged delay in conducting the final rites had drawn significant public attention as Twisha’s family had earlier demanded a second post-mortem examination, raising concerns over the initial findings and seeking a more transparent investigation. The second autopsy was ordered after court intervention, with a four-member AIIMS Delhi team carrying out the medical examination in Bhopal.
Twisha was found dead at her matrimonial home in Bhopal on May 12, and the case later sparked allegations of dowry harassment and procedural irregularities.
Her husband, Samarth Singh, has been sent to police custody as investigators continue questioning and gathering evidence in the matter. The case has attracted nationwide attention, with legal proceedings and investigations continuing as the family seeks justice and answers regarding the circumstances surrounding her death.
