Residents across Delhi-NCR received emergency mobile alerts on Saturday evening as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an ‘extremely severe alert’ warning of thunderstorms, lightning, hailstorm and heavy rainfall over the next few hours.
The IMD placed several parts of Delhi under a red alert, forecasting winds of up to 100 kmph, dust storms and hail. Noida was also placed under a red warning, while Ghaziabad remained under an orange alert. The weather system brought relief from intense heat, though authorities advised residents to remain cautious amid the risk of severe storms and strong winds.
