Two persons have been arrested in connection with a stone-pelting incident on a train in which Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat was travelling, according to media reports.
The incident reportedly took place on a Delhi-bound Swarna Shatabdi Express in Uttar Pradesh, where unidentified individuals hurled stones at the moving train, damaging a window pane of one of the coaches. Officials said Bhagwat was travelling in the same coach but was seated on the opposite side and remained unharmed.
Following the incident, railway protection forces and local police launched an investigation and reviewed CCTV footage to identify those involved. Authorities have since detained two individuals in connection with the case, and further legal action is underway.
Preliminary reports suggest that the stone-pelting occurred while the train was passing through a section in Uttar Pradesh’s Firozabad district. The impact of the stone caused damage to the outer glass of the coach, but no passengers were injured.
Security agencies are also examining whether the act was deliberate or carried out by miscreants near the railway track. Officials have intensified checks along sensitive railway routes in the region following the incident.
The case has raised renewed concerns over railway passenger safety, especially involving high-profile travellers, and investigations are continuing.
