Weather Update: Rain alert from Bihar to Mumbai, storm warnings for several states; heat rises in Delhi.

Today’s Weather: Residents of Delhi-NCR are eagerly looking to the skies for relief from the heat, but despite cloudy conditions, they will have to wait a little longer. While changing weather patterns have brought scattered rain and gusty winds to some areas, the Southwest Monsoon has not yet arrived in the national capital. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has forecast widespread rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds across several states for Wednesday. Rain is expected in Uttar Pradesh after June 28.

Heavy Rain Alert

The monsoon has already reached Bihar, Jharkhand, Telangana, Odisha, West Bengal, and Chhattisgarh. According to the forecast issued by the Meteorological Department, heavy rain is likely today in parts of Maharashtra, Northeast India, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim. Heavy rainfall is expected in some areas of the Konkan region. Parts of Madhya Maharashtra may experience thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, strong winds, and moderate to heavy rain. Marathwada is likely to see thunderstorms with lightning and light to moderate rain.

Heavy rainfall is expected in Jharkhand, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim between June 24 and 29. Gusty winds and thunderstorms are likely in Bihar on June 25–26; wind speeds could reach 50–60 km/h, with gusts touching 70 km/h in some areas.

Delhi-NCR Weather

Partly cloudy skies are expected in Delhi-NCR on Wednesday. No significant rainfall is anticipated before June 28. The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 41°C, while the minimum temperature will likely remain near normal levels. In other words, residents of Delhi are unlikely to get relief from the scorching heat just yet. However, dust storms may occur in some areas by June 25.

Weather in Mumbai

The monsoon has arrived in Mumbai. The Meteorological Department has issued a ‘Red Alert’ for heavy rainfall in Mumbai and Palghar today, warning of heavy downpours over the next three hours. The department has also forecast lightning and strong winds blowing at speeds of 30–40 kmph. After a lull of nearly two weeks, the Southwest Monsoon has regained momentum in Maharashtra, and widespread, heavy rainfall is expected across the state over the coming days.

Weather in Madhya Pradesh

Scattered rainfall is likely to continue in Madhya Pradesh. Intermittent rain may occur in central districts, including Bhopal, after which precipitation activity is expected to shift towards the southern and eastern regions.
