Today’s Weather: Risk of heavy rain in 14 states, including Bihar and Bengal; warning of strong winds in Delhi-NCR.

New Delhi: The Southwest Monsoon has advanced beyond Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand. It is likely to reach Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand within the next two to three days. According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rainfall is expected today (Thursday) in Assam, Meghalaya, Bihar, Odisha, Telangana, coastal Andhra Pradesh, the interior regions of Karnataka, Madhya Maharashtra, and Marathwada. Thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds are also likely across North, Central, and East India.

Likelihood of Heavy Rain in These States

According to the latest forecast issued by the Meteorological Department, heavy rain is expected on June 25 in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh. During this period, squally winds blowing at speeds of 50–60 km/h may occur, with wind speeds potentially reaching up to 70 km/h in some areas. Dust storms are likely in western Rajasthan today. Warnings have been issued for isolated heavy rainfall and lightning strikes in Jharkhand. Scattered rainfall is predicted for Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal.

Light rain is expected in Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi between June 25 and 26, accompanied by lightning and strong winds blowing at 40–50 km/h. From June 29 to 30, strong winds reaching speeds of 60 km/h are expected in Eastern and Western Uttar Pradesh, along with rainfall in some areas.

Orange Alert for Mumbai

Heavy rainfall is set to continue in Mumbai today. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for the city, warning of thunderstorms, lightning, heavy rain, and wind speeds ranging from 40 to 60 km/h.

Weather Outlook for Delhi-NCR Today

Partly cloudy skies are expected in Delhi and its surrounding areas. Light rain accompanied by thunderstorms is likely during the afternoon or evening. Additionally, strong winds blowing at speeds of 40–50 kmph are likely. In Delhi, the maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to range between 38°C–40°C and 26°C–28°C, respectively. Meanwhile, the city is likely to remain cloudy on Friday as well, with the possibility of light rain accompanied by thunderstorms during the afternoon or evening. Maximum and minimum temperatures in Delhi are expected to hover between 37°C–39°C and 27°C–29°C, respectively. The minimum temperature will remain close to normal in most areas.
