Afghanistan has claimed that its air force conducted airstrikes on ISIS hideouts inside Pakistan. These strikes targeted ISIS positions in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In a statement, the Afghan Ministry of Defence announced that its air force carried out aerial bombardments on a center used by ISIS extremists in the Saranan area of Balochistan’s Pishin district.
Afghanistan claims retaliation for the deaths of 36 civilians
However, there has been no statement from Pakistan regarding this matter so far. Previously, on June 29, Pakistan had conducted airstrikes in Afghanistan, resulting in the deaths of 36 civilians and injuries to over 160 people. Following that incident, Afghanistan had vowed to retaliate, and it has now claimed to have done so.
Afghanistan drops bombs on terrorist hideouts
According to the Afghan Ministry of Defence, this action targeted terrorist bases from where activities against Afghanistan were being planned. The ministry stated that the airstrikes were executed entirely based on intelligence and aimed solely at destroying ISIS hideouts. However, this claim has not yet been independently verified.
Afghanistan will not compromise on national security
Afghanistan also declared that it would not compromise on its national security in any way and would continue to take necessary measures to counter cross-border terrorist threats. Officials stated that similar actions could be taken in the future if Afghanistan’s security is threatened again.
Rising tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan
It is worth noting that tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan regarding cross-border security and terrorism have been escalating in recent months. Pakistan has long alleged that terrorist organizations use Afghan soil to launch attacks against it, while Afghanistan denies these allegations and accuses Pakistan of encroaching on its territory and violating its sovereignty. Following the latest developments, tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan are likely to escalate further.
