Weather set to change again across the country! Heavy rain alert for several states, including UP, Bihar, Delhi, and MP.

The monsoon is active across several states in the country. Warnings for heavy rainfall have been issued today for Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Eastern Uttar Pradesh. Many districts in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and showers today. There is a continued risk of widespread rain and landslides in hilly regions over the next three days. Delhi-NCR is expected to see partly cloudy skies and light rain today, with temperatures likely hovering between 26°C and 33°C. Alerts for heavy rain accompanied by storms have also been issued for Bihar and Jharkhand. Torrential rain is expected in several parts of the national capital, Delhi, on Tuesday; air travelers are advised to check their flight schedules.

Likelihood of Heavy Rain in UP, MP, and Bihar

Rain is expected in almost all districts of Madhya Pradesh today. The Meteorological Centre in Bhopal has issued an ‘Orange Alert’ for five districts and a ‘Yellow Alert’ for the remaining districts.

According to the Meteorological Department, an ‘Orange Alert’ has been issued today for Betul, Damoh, Tikamgarh, Rajgarh, and Narsinghpur, indicating a possibility of heavy rainfall in these districts.

Rain accompanied by strong winds and lightning is expected in several districts of Bihar today. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for heavy rain, storms, and lightning strikes across various districts of the state. Heavy rainfall is anticipated in Bihar over the next three days. Rain alerts have been issued for 11 districts today, with specific warnings for heavy rainfall in Lakhisarai, Madhubani, Bhagalpur, Kishanganj, Purnia, Begusarai, Vaishali, Jehanabad, Siwan, Darbhanga, and Buxar.

The Meteorological Department has once again issued an alert for torrential rain, strong winds, and lightning strikes in Uttar Pradesh. According to the department, strong winds, lightning strikes, and heavy rainfall are likely in several districts today.

Moderate to heavy rainfall is forecast for several districts in Uttar Pradesh, including Varanasi, Chandauli, Ghazipur, Jaunpur, Ballia, Pratapgarh, Chitrakoot, Mahoba, Banda, Hamirpur, and Jhansi.
Light to moderate rainfall and lightning strikes are expected in several other districts of the state, including Kanpur, Lucknow, Unnao, Prayagraj, Mirzapur, Sonbhadra, Ayodhya, Gorakhpur, Basti, Kushinagar, Sitapur, and Bahraich.
A warning regarding inclement weather has also been issued for districts in Western UP, including Meerut, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, Baghpat, Bijnor, Muzaffarnagar, Shamli, and Saharanpur.

Heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is likely in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand between August 25 and 28.
Scattered rainfall is expected in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh between August 25 and 28.
Isolated heavy rainfall is likely in Punjab between August 25 and 28.
Widespread to fairly widespread rainfall is expected in Eastern Madhya Pradesh, Western Madhya Pradesh, and Vidarbha today and tomorrow.
Rainfall is likely at isolated places in Chhattisgarh between August 25 and 28; additionally, thunderstorms and lightning strikes are expected in some areas today and tomorrow.
Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall is likely in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim between August 25 and 28.
Heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places in Jharkhand and Bihar between August 25 and 28.
Very heavy rainfall is also expected at isolated places in Odisha between August 25 and 28. Rainfall is likely at isolated places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya between August 26 and 28.
A heavy rainfall warning has also been issued for Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura for the period of August 25 to 28.
Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall is likely in Konkan and Goa between August 25 and 28.
Scattered to isolated rainfall is likely in Gujarat, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Saurashtra & Kutch between August 25 and 28.
Scattered to isolated rainfall is likely in Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, and Telangana between August 25 and 28.
Rainfall is expected in North Interior Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka between August 25 and 28.
Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall is likely in Coastal Karnataka, Kerala & Mahe, and Lakshadweep between August 25 and 28.
Thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds are likely at isolated places in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal today; similar conditions, along with gusty winds, are expected in Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam and Rayalaseema tomorrow.

What to do in case of thunderstorms/lightning:

Do not leave harvested crops in the open.
Avoid entering waterlogged areas.
Do not stand near weak structures.
Do not use fertilizers or pesticides.
Arrange for the drainage of excess water from crop fields.
Drive vehicles carefully during rain.
Do not take shelter under trees or go near water bodies.
Avoid taking shelter in weak structures.
Ensure proper maintenance of drainage systems.
