Weather Update: December-like snowfall in hilly regions in September; what will the weather be like in Delhi, UP, and Bihar over the next two days?

Weather Update: The weather has taken a turn once again. On Thursday, mountainous regions witnessed December-like snowfall during the month of September. High-altitude areas in Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand were blanketed in white snow. The weather shift observed in the hills is now likely to be felt in the plains as well.

Cloudy skies over Delhi

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast partly cloudy skies for the national capital, Delhi, on Friday. The minimum temperature is expected to be around 23°C, with a maximum of 34°C. Cloudy conditions may persist in Delhi on Saturday as well, with temperatures likely ranging from a minimum of 23°C to a maximum of 35°C.

No rain forecast for Delhi

According to Skymet Weather, there is no forecast of rain in Delhi between September 18 and 23. Initially, the sky will remain partly cloudy, but it is expected to clear up significantly from September 21 onwards.

No significant weather change in UP

The weather in Uttar Pradesh is expected to remain normal over the next two days. Sunny skies are expected on Friday and Saturday (September 18-19), though humid heat may prevail during the day. Localized light cloud cover is also anticipated in some districts of UP.

Rain expected in several Bihar districts

A change in weather is likely in Bihar over the next two days. Heavy rain is predicted for several districts of the state on Friday, with chances of rainfall in Patna, Muzaffarpur, Gaya, Bhagalpur, and Purnia. The weather may clear up slightly on Saturday.

Snowfall in Gulmarg and Baramulla

It is worth noting that high-altitude areas of Gulmarg and Gurez in Kashmir were blanketed in snow on Thursday—marking the season’s first snowfall—while the valley’s plains received rain. Snowfall occurred overnight in the upper reaches of the famous ski resort Gulmarg, including the Gondola Phase-2 and Apharwat areas, within the Baramulla district of North Kashmir. A thin white layer of snow covered the high-altitude areas.
