CG Electricity Bill: There is welcome news for electricity consumers in Chhattisgarh. The tenure of the ‘Chief Minister’s Electricity Bill Settlement Scheme’ (Mukhyamantri Bijli Bill Samadhan Yojana) has been extended once again. Eligible consumers can now avail the benefits of this scheme until December 31, 2026. The scheme includes provisions for waivers on the principal amount and surcharges for settling outstanding electricity bills, in accordance with established rules.
Eligible consumers falling under the domestic BPL (Below Poverty Line) and agricultural categories served by the Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Limited (CSPDCL) will benefit from this scheme. The extension provides these consumers with additional time to settle their long-standing electricity bill arrears.
Benefits available until December 31, 2026
According to the official order, the tenure of the scheme was previously set until September 30, 2026. A revised order has now been issued, extending the deadline to December 31, 2026. This allows consumers covered under the scheme to settle their pending electricity bills within the extended timeframe.
Waivers on outstanding bills and surcharges
Under the scheme, eligible consumers will receive waivers on the principal amount of outstanding electricity bills and on surcharges, as per the prescribed provisions. The objective is to resolve cases involving long-pending electricity bills. The extended period offers eligible consumers an additional opportunity to deposit outstanding amounts and settle bill-related issues.
Scheme for BPL and agricultural consumers
The benefits of the ‘Chief Minister’s Electricity Bill Settlement Scheme’ are primarily intended for domestic BPL and agricultural consumers served by CSPDCL. Consumers can avail the scheme’s benefits in accordance with the rules regarding eligibility and waivers.
Additional time for consumers
With the extension of the scheme’s tenure, eligible consumers now have until December 31, 2026, to settle their outstanding electricity bills. Consumers settling their pending bills may receive financial relief by availing of the waiver under the prescribed rules.
