Ram Navami Violence: Election Commission Takes Action in Bengal, Removes Station In-Charges After Incident; Details Inside

Ram Navami Violence : Stones were pelted on the Ram Navami procession in Murshidabad, West Bengal. Now the Election Commission has ordered the suspension of the in-charge of Beldanga and Shaktipur police stations here.

Ram Navami Violence: The local police station in-charges have been held responsible for the stone pelting and violence during the Ram Navami procession in Murshidabad, West Bengal on Wednesday (17 April). The Election Commission has ordered the suspension of the in-charges of Beldanga and Shaktipur police stations here.

Along with this, they have also been asked to file a charge sheet against these police station in-charges. On Friday (April 19), the Election Commission has issued an order in this regard. In this, the in-charges of Shaktipur and Beldanga police stations have been instructed to be removed with immediate effect. It is clearly written in this that these two officers are being removed due to failure to maintain communal harmony.

There was violence on Ram Navami

In fact, on the evening of Ram Navami, violence took place in Beldanga and Shaktipur areas of Murshidabad. Allegations were made that stones were pelted on the Ram Navami procession from all sides. There were also allegations of bombing. BJP had targeted Mamata Banerjee regarding this. Party’s IT cell chief and co-in-charge of West Bengal Amit Malviya had said that attacks on Ram Navami processions were done due to Mamata Banerjee’s instigation. Claims were made that about dozens of people were injured in this incident of violence. Allegations were made that the police could not handle the situation at the time of stone pelting on the procession and remained a mute spectator.

The DIG of Murshidabad Range was also removed by the Election Commission

Let us tell you that before this, the Election Commission had also removed Murshidabad Range DIG IPS Mukesh Kumar from the post. Before the elections, the law and order situation in Murshidabad is not very normal. Before the Ram Navami violence, there was bombing and firing in the violent clash between Congress and Trinamool workers. After this the DIG was removed. Then Mamata Banerjee had questioned the decision of the Election Commission and said that if there is a riot then the Election Commission will be responsible. Mamata had said that I know who can handle law and order but those officers are being removed. After this, when the procession came out on the occasion of Ram Navami, it was pelted with stones. After this, questions have been raised on the working style of the police.
